A sporting destination
Mandelieu-La Napoule represents 70% of land with no construction. There are 400km (250 miles) of trails in the Esterel Massif. Various sports can be practised: hiking, trail bike, mountain biking, rock climbing, etc. The only navigable river in the Alpes-Maritimes département in the heart of the city, with 9km (5.6 miles) available and ready. Two long-distance (GR – Grande Randonnée) footpaths in the Esterel and Tanneron Massifs: the GR 51 trail (Triangle of the Sun itinerary) from Menton to Marseille, and the GR 653 ‘Along the Pilgrims’ Way to Compostela’, from Arles to Rome.
Mont San Peyre, a Natural Departmental Park in the city, with a 2km (1¼-mile) circuit. The highest peak, 131m (430 ft.) above sea level, of accessible for everyone. From the top, there is a breathtaking view over the Gulf of La Napoule and the Isles of Lérins. The Euro Vélo 8 bicycle touring itinerary between Spain and Greece goes through Mandelieu-La Napoule.
