Isle of Sainte-Marguerite
The Isle of Sainte-Marguerite is the larger of the two, with opulent greenery just a stone’s throw from the coastline! With no less than 152 hectares (375 acres) of protected forest, it stretches over 3km (1.8 miles) and provides an ideal destination for a weekend on the beach or family escapade.
Along with an ornithological reserve at Le Batéguier pond, 22km (13.6 miles) of marked trails and many pristine inlets, it boasts the Fort Royal, reinforced in the late 17th century by French military engineer Vauban, and also a former State prison, which once held one of the most famous prisoners in history: the Man in the Iron Mask! The oldest part of the fort is occupied by the Musée de la Mer (Museum of the Sea).
For the most curious, land and sea hikes are organized in summer on the Ile Sainte Marguerite which allow a more thorough observation of nature.
Isle of Saint-Honorat and Abbey of Lérins
A haven of peace…
Its smaller neighbour, the Isle of Saint-Honorat, is only 1,500m (5,000 ft.) long and 400m (1,300 ft.) wide. With many umbrella and maritime pine trees and rich architectural heritage, it is also famous for the Monastery of Lérins, founded in the 5th century by saint Honoratus, a holy man who attracted many disciples. The monastery has since become a major landmark in the history of Western Christianity.
With its sixteen centuries of monastic life, the Isle of Saint-Honorat welcomes both visitors in love with pristine sites and those in search of tranquillity and spirituality. The Abbey’s wine is made on the island, along with liqueurs: verbena, tangerine, lerincello… (all available for sale in the Tourist Bureau shop).

From PortLa Napoule, transfers are possible from May to September (tickets available at the Tourist Bureau or from the online shop).

Isles of Lérins
Transfers to the Ile Sainte Honorat are only possible from Cannes with the company Planaria de l’Abbaye de Lérins.
